To make Glowing Rainbow Eruptions you will need:
  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Fluorescent or glow in the dark paint
  • Dish soap (optional)
  • Any size of container

All you have to do to make glowing rainbow eruptions is add paint to normal baking soda and vinegar. In a small container add baking soda and a bit of fluorescent or glow in the dark paint. (If using fluorescent paint you will also need a black light.) You can add one color of paint at a time or a bit of each color to make erupting rainbows! We made many eruptions, some with one color and some with all the colors at once.
Every single eruption was stunning- even when we turned the lights on!

The Science Behind It:
When the vinegar (acetic acid) and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) react together, the product is a salt, water and c02. The c02 is what all the bubbles are that you see. By adding the paint it simply gives the glowing feature to the experiment.
